Funding Research

The Collaborative aims to yield rigorously-obtained evidence, and providing foundational funding to well-designed research studies is essential to this goal. The Collaborative awards research and exploratory travel grants to stimulate joint research projects between BRAC Researchers and CEGA faculty. Research funding builds substantive collaborations between U.S. and BRAC researchers, growing the capacity of local actors and improving the quality of social science research in the region. Each study is co-led by a BRAC staff researcher and at least one CEGA-affiliated faculty member.

Research Grant Competition

To promote partnerships between BRAC and CEGA researchers, a competitive call for proposals is issued annually to seek out and fund creative research initiatives that can inform BRAC’s investments and scale-up of programs. Each study is co-led by a BRAC staff researcher and at least one CEGA-affiliated faculty member. To date, the Collaborative has awarded nearly $600,000 USD for pairs of CEGA and BRAC researchers to conduct impact evaluations.

Travel Grants

Exploratory travel grants seed partnerships among BRAC and CEGA researchers, which result in longer-term collaborations and joint research studies. To date the Collaborative has awarded over $20,000 USD in travel grants to CEGA researchers and PhD students for on-site preliminary discussions with BRAC staff.
